ELEGANTLY EDGY, BLACK LUXE SHOOT
A dark, moody and mysterious styled shoot in a hidden gem location right in the heart of Manchester city centre. Inspired by the stylish couple who always wear black. It's what makes them feel good and most themselves, It is their personal statement - so why should their wedding break that? I wanted the shoot to be intimate - like a beautiful city centre elopement. Capturing a story by showing emotion, feeling and style! I wanted the images to portray the couples feelings towards one another, to be more real and in the moment.

A concept based around the ever growing popularity of the colour black. A aim of this shoot was to show that black doesn’t have to be Halloween led, or incorporate lots of gothic elements - it can be rich, beautiful and Luxe. As a Boho Luxe stylist, my style is very bold and I always incorporate statement pieces. Bridal Serendipity in Stockport brought along the most INSANE Shikoba Stevie dress - a statement to die for! Then we styled it up alongside some incredible bespoke accessories.
The feather shoulder cape from Peacock and Pearl combined with a unique hand made bespoke headpiece by Rachel Chaprunne brought the vision to life. Along with a beautiful ethically made green and black ombre veil which allowed us to showcase alternating looks for both daytime and evening. With so many brides opting for a transition throughout their wedding day, we wanted to play on this idea and show you those options. If you want two outfits, or you want to maximise your style throughout your day- then absolutely do it! There are no rules.
Another consideration in this shoot was that we wanted to consider using ethical concepts. My brand aims to be as ethical as possible while still being bold and style conscious. I love showing you how you can reuse items, recycle and up-cycle things that you might already have! The Freixenet prosecco bottles are something i was personally saving for my own wedding styling and i thought what an incredible statement for the floral centrepiece. With the shoot not being heavy on florals - i wanted the ones we did have to feel like they were having their moment! The cut glass is perfect for adding in detail and texture to your tablescapes.
The stationery was also a key aspect. Handwritten wedding menus and invite sets gave it an intimate feel. Something more unique and special. The agate slices gave a touch of luxury with the stunning calligraphy names.
Often on the day stationery can get a little lost when it comes to remembering to get photos of it on the day - so top tip is to styled up your stationery. Especially any welcome signage. Stationers love to see their work on the day of the wedding so why not style it up and send them a little photo.
With the venue having such unique features, when it came to imagery, we wanted to utilise these features. With bold lighting choices and larger decor details, bringing those into the design was key! I created my design based on the venue’s look and feel and was inspired by the ornate decor. The black and green colour scheme led from the venues rich indulgence. It was the perfect setting for a moody, dramatic shoot and Taylar-Jayde photography created magic with a dark edit style that assisted in the intimate yet emotion filled concept.
Overall, we all wanted to showcase a shoot that highlighted just how amazing black can be as a wedding colour. Showing couples that they can show off their own style and unique qualities - so much so that when people walk into the room they instantly recognise it as that couples day. It’s about being unapologetic about doing things your own way and ultimately inspiring those couples who are looking for a bold, Boho Luxe wedding style.
